In November last year Hastings Borough Council sent out a map (see below) of Bohemia showng their proposals for the siting of communal bins. No explanatory letter was enclosed, only a census form asking such questions as ‘Is your gender identity the same as the gender you were assigned at birth?’
Cllr Andrew Cartwright said “As soon as the Council had sent out its “letters” I began receiving calls from residents in Bohemia. Some were angry, some were beside themselves with laughter, others were just plain puzzled”. It transpired that 538 households had received the incorrect documents. And of course fresh packs of documents had to be sent out to all the households!
A letter from HBC sent to councillors reads “We have just discovered that the mail-out for area 4 (538 households) in Bohemia went out without the consultation document with residents only receiving the equalities form. We are now in the process of rectifying this and will be sending new packs to residents – Emmett Dunford, Waste & Recycling Project Manager, Hastings Borough Council”.
