Rod Shone

Braving the winter weather in Bohemia Road, artist Rod Shone was spotted with his drawing board near the Village Voice office making a detailed pencil sketch of the A21 café. Rod hails from Hertfordshire and was in town visiting his daughter. Seeing the A21 café, he liked the building and was making a pencil sketch on brown paper when our reporter passed by. Rod trained as an artist at St. Martin’s School of Art, in London, and has been a professional photographer all his life.  He told the Voice that he likes drawing on brown paper and often scans in his sketches and fills in the colours on his computer. Rod’s daughter, Venice, is a fashion and book illustrator, and also does a wide range of greetings cards.
