Success for MX shop

Destination MX team - Mick and Jenny, not forgetting Ross, the dog

Destination MX team - Mick and Jenny, not forgetting Ross, the dog

Mick and Jenny Goodger have been running Destination MX, in Tower Road, since 2004, having taken over from K & S who had been there for 20 years. At first they called their off-road bike business MX1, but found that there was another business of the same name.  In consequence, they ran a competition in the magazine Trials & Motocross News to find a name, and Destination MX was the prizewinning entry. Mick has been involved with motorcycles all his life, and has seen all aspects of the trade from both sides. At school he used to help a friend with the mechanics on his bike.
Since opening Destination MX, he and Jenny have totally refitted the shop and extended it twice, including converting a former antiques shop into a fully-functioning workshop. The business serves a specialist market, selling everything enthusiasts need for Motocross and Enduro: clothing, protection, hard parts and consumables, as well as new and used bikes.   Mick and Jenny are very particular about fitting helmets to be exactly right. They cater for all ages who want to race, “whether they are six or sixty-six.”  Customers come from a very wide area, the nearest motocross tracks being Golding Barn, Brighton, and Riverside at Dartford.
Every weekend Mick and Jenny run a spares van for the East Kent Schoolboy Scramble Club. They are sponsoring 14-year-old Karl Johnson, a member of the club, who rides a KTM 144 and is doing extremely well in competitions such as the DEP 125 Challenge and the EliteYouth Cup. Currently, Mick and Jenny are trying to get Karl sponsorship from Fox, the top brand in motocross clothing.
