Bohemian Bouquet
Chance Encounter – by H Joan Chaplin
I met again the one before the last,
A shadow long remembered from my past,
We’d vowed eternal love to our last breath,
And yet it waned, and died a natural death;
But did you grieve, my love, when I left you,
Or was it time a change of heart was due?
We met again – and yet no spark was there,
We’re strangers now, it’s best this way, my dear.

poetry group The Bohemians, in about 1980]
