St Paul’s school was delighted to receive £500 from the Hastings branch of Sussex Police in order to provide ‘Story sacks’ for children in the school.  The school would like to provide 100 of the sacks so that 90 pupils in the Reception classes can take home a sack each week. The sacks contain a well-known fiction book and supporting toys, games, puppets and other resources so that children can share the books with an adult and act out the story using the toys and puppets. Head teacher,  Pat Lock said  “we want to instil in our children a love of books”. The cheque was presented by Chief Inspector Blaker on 31st October and the school will begin to send Story sacks home as soon as they have enough for one class.
The school has an excellent working relationship with their PCSO Andy Hubbard and it was through him that the school was able to pursue the funding. His colleague PC Hearn said “This was an excellent piece of work by PCSO Hubbard”.
