Pub to provide childrens corner and strippers

Student lawyer Emma will beautify the Wheatsheaf

Student lawyer Emma will beautify the Wheatsheaf

Emma Kinsella, new manager at the Wheatsheaf, is planning to host a wide range of events to promote it as a family-orientated, community pub, with something to attract everybody.   Emma took over the Wheatsheaf in mid-September, and one of the first things she did was to host a big, all-day party to raise funds for the Children’s Hospice. Rich-ard Leach, who ran the party, had his legs waxed and raised £105. Live music was provided by Mascara, a new up and coming girl band who have just played at Brighton’s Theatre Royal’s 200th anniversary.

Emma is hoping that two planned strippers nights, one for girls and one for blokes (on separate nights!) will bring in plenty of custom. There will also be folk music on Sunday afternoons and poker nights on Wednesdays.

To encourage a family atmosphere in the pub, Emma plans to have a children’s corner with toys and games, and is investing in a new coffee machine serving a variety of non-alcoholic drinks, which she hopes will especially appeal to shoppers walking back from Lidls.
The Wheatsheaf’s owner, Joe Rytlewski, runs the Kings’ Head in Battle, and last year he won South and South-East in Bloom and Battle in Bloom. This has inspired Emma to do something similar with the Wheatsheaf. She is hoping to beautify the outside of the premises with hanging baskets filled with flowers, and also to get the fairy lights back into working order.

Emma grew up in Bexhill, where she attended St. Richard’s School, and moved to Bohemia last year.   Before taking on the management of the Wheatsheaf, she was doing one-to-one caring for elderly ladies in their own homes. Now as well as her busy new life as a publican, she is studying for a law degree.
