Clarence Road barrier

Cllr Cartwright (L) & Trevor Webb present petition to Bob Lacey of ESCC

Cllr Andrew Cartwright  and Cllr Trevor Webb recently presented a petition for a road barrier across Clarence Road on behalf of local residents to East Sussex County Council.

The barrier is  to prevent vehicles going north of the access to Alexandra Park. Residents will be able to use a key. Andrew said “This stretch of unmade road is being used for illegal activities, all of which require use of a vehicle, and a barrier would prevent this. ESCC say they won’t permit a barrier because Clarence Road is a right of way.

However, the road is of such a bad quality that no one uses it except for residents, and those who want to break the law” A decision will be made on December 17 at County Hall.

The lead petitioner is Andy Holmes, vice-chair of the Bohemia Area Assn who will be able to speak in support of the petition as will Trevor Webb.
