The Voice recently interviewed Sue McGreevy about the Park Lane Group – a company based in Bohemia Road and developing properties mainly in the local area: Hastings, Bexhill and Battle, with some in Kent.
Park Lane Group has now bought 135, 137 and 139 Bohemia Road. The properties are earmarked for development into office space for their own use. They will be hi-tech, air-conditioned offices, opening June 2008. Currently Park Lane employ about 20 staff, and this figure will rise to about 30 by next year. They use lots of sub-contractors. Both sides of the group’s activities will be expanded: the residential lettings and new homes.
‘In Amherst Road we’re building sixteen 4-bedroomed detached houses, nine of which are two-thirds of the way through. There are only the last few houses left to sell – a handful. Over the road with beautiful views, there are nine one- or two-bed appartments, and 50% of these are sold. It is the first project for Lawrence Hulkes, construction manager.’ ‘We talk to Pat Lock [head of St Paul’s School] on a regular basis, as well as others in the neighbourhood. We are a member of the Considerate Contrac-tors Scheme. We let Pat Lock know if it’s going to be extra noisy. There’s double boarding round the school area.’
Park Lane supports Catsfield Football Club and Hastings Football Club. ‘This year, we are supporting a community group award for Hastings Achievers. ‘ESCC have an October ‘Walk to School’ for a month. We are sponsoring it this year. We’ll provide reflective bands for kids. There’ll be a prize for the best school, best year, and each child gets a goody bag.  ’
