All-star cricket has returned to Horntye Park Sports Complex this month. In recent years the centre has hosted several encounters between local club Hastings Priory and celebrity-veteran outfit Lashings World XI. This year the Priory were due to take on an Old England side managed by ex-England and Sussex wicketkeeper Jim Parks [see picture], and including former England players such as Bill Athey, Clive Radley and Derek Randall [see picture]. The side was to be captained by John Lever [see picture] in a limited-overs match taking place on the afternoon of Sunday 5th August. Horntye’s General Man-ager, Kevin Miller, was hoping that Sussex regular Mike Yardy [see picture], who is also in the current England one-day squad, will attend the event as a special guest. ‘With any luck, Mike might even turn out for his old club the Priory, as he did earlier this season when coming back from injury,’ said Kevin. ‘In any case, the match offers an opportunity for cricket lovers to see some of the best English players from the past few decades take on the best Hastings and St Leonards have to offer.’
