Matts Carter - now selling and renting DVDs.

Visual Magic on Bohemia Road is moving into retail. Shop owner Matt Carter told the Voice, ‘The main retailers in Hastings are offering fewer DVD film titles than ever, though DVDs are so cheap to buy that many people don’t bother renting. So I’m now stocking 180 new titles for people to buy, as well as 200 second-hand, ex-rental films. The new titles are mostly from the last couple of years, with a few older ones. If it goes well, I’ll also be able to do pre-orders on big releases.’
Matt says he is planning to phase out the rental side of the business until only the big new releases will be available. ‘Eventually, I’ll be able to offer a “try first, buy later” option, where people can rent first and if they like the film they can pay the difference to own it. Also, any members will get a percentage off the retail price.’  In the meantime, brand-new DVDs will retail at £6.99 each or three for £15, while the second-hand titles, which have all been specially cleaned up, are £5 each or three for £10.
