In our last issue, we referred to Mr Vic Chalcraft, of Aldborough Road, as a ‘machine minder’. We now know that this is not the case. He was an assistant machine minder. A trivial detail? “No, the jobs were entirely different – we even belonged to different unions,” said Vic. “My mates would never forgive me if I went round calling myself a machine minder.”  Sincere apologies were offered and accepted.
