Bill (pictured above) and Mieke Third of St Peter’s Road are confidently predicting a bumper grape harvest this year. “We normally get about 14kg of grapes, but this year it’s going to be about 30kg,” said Mieke. “I think the reason is that we gave the vines a severe pruning two years ago.” Will the Thirds be making gallons of wine? “No, wine has been a disappointment. We’ll be making lots of grape juice and grape jelly, instead. We give a lot of it away.”
