Opening mid-August is a new key-cutting service. The new shop is located at the site of the old ‘Candy Store’ in the London Road parade of shops opposite Buchanan Gardens. Owner Mick Triggs says “I’m going to call the shop simply  ‘Mick’s’, and I’ll do key-cutting, dry cleaning (which will be sent away), shoe repairs (also sent away) and I’ll be selling handbags, watch batteries and the like.”

Mick has plenty of experience in this line of business: “I used to own a key-cutting shop in Sackville Road in Bexhill, but sold it a couple of years ago.”

Mick is being helped to refurbish the shop by his brother in law Denis George who runs his own building business ‘Radio Bemba’, [which is a sort of code for ‘word of mouth’]. “The shop isn’t enormous, but there is room downstairs for a toilet and tea-room,” Mick added.  When will he be open for business? “By about mid-August,” says Mick.
