No, not a new local music group, but a species of physical activity being offered to youngsters at the YMCA in St Paul’s Road. There’s Buzz-beez After School Club for 6-8 year olds and a Powerhouse Club for 9-13 year olds. The Youth Club for 14 to 17 year olds meets Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Chess tuition is available for all ages – well from 5 to 17 years. All the youth clubs are free, but for ‘warhammer’ you’ll have to pay, as you will for badminton, judo, junior football, girl’s football, skate hockey, gymnastics and drama. YMCA membership is just £4 per year. Plans for the future include a mid-week roller disco for local kids and students from local language schools.
