Local history lectures

A series of free one-hour local history lectures is currently taking place. They are written and presented by local historian and Bohemia resident Edward Preston. They are given every Monday at 10:30am at Friends Meeting House in South Terrace, by Priory Meadow shopping centre. The first one was given on Monday 8 May, but there is still time to enjoy most of them as they are scheduled to go on till September. There is no admission charge. Edward says that the lectures are proving extremely popular. Today’s one was called “Stand Easy”. The remaining lectures are:

 

June 19 – Royal visits to Hastings and St  Leonards

June 26 – The writing on the wall

July    3 – Sanctuaries, spires and steeples

July   10 –  A broad-brush approach

July   17 – Food, glorious food

July   24 – Houses of note – past and present

July   31 – Season tickets and bus passes

August 7 – A healthy resort

August 14 – A sporting chance

August 21 – Clive Vale, Halton, Ore and Red Lake

August 28 – All hands on deck

September 4 – The spice of life (last lecture)
