Easter Sunday in Bohemia, New York
Diane Haberstroh writes (31 Mar 2013)
Yesterday was actually a decent day and I took a long walk (5 hours) in a preserve out east. Much to my surprise, I didn’t see anything–absolutely nothing. Someone told me I would certainly see turkeys–I saw none.
Afterwards, when I was back home, I took another walk on the St John’s University campus (across the street from me) and saw cormorants, juncos, robins and a red tailed hawk winging its solitary flight across the campus grounds.
So, I learned yesterday that I can drive for 30 minutes and walk for five hours and see nothing, or I can just cross my street, walk for 10 minutes, and see plenty of wildlife.
I think I’m walking in my neighborhood today.
