Bohemia Walled Garden

Patricia Vincent writes (May 2009)

Dear Sir, I was disappointed there were no photos of Bohemia on your website. My ancestors lived there and today my family live in Sussex. Also  to change the lovely garden (on your website) into a garden centre as a means to preserve its beauty, would definitely defeat the object, i.e. greenhouses, garden slabs, turf rolls, compost, etc, etc, etc. I am sure it could be put to better use!

Dear Sir, I would like to allay any fears that the walled garden in Summerfields Wood could become a commercial garden centre. The main aim of the Bohemia Walled Garden Association is to restore the walled structure to become a community asset.  We value the potential of this site, especially as it is in the midst of a Local Nature Reserve.

However, the reality is that this project will require thousands of pounds to achieve and to maintain.  It is with this in mind that we considered the idea of a growing plants to sell. Probably, we will not be able to do this; the Planning Department considers that this would be a change of use. They would also scrutinise our application for any buildings (such as sheds, greenhouses, polytunnels) that we might wish to add to the site.
