Dear Sir,

I would like to wish everyone in Bohemia Village a very happy Christmas . I am now a regular reader of the Bohemia Village Voice. I went to school some 50 years ago with the editor, John. We met up in London this year the first time since our school days. We spent most of the day reminiscing and were surprised to find that Bohemia Village is not unlike Kuraby which is on the outskirts of Brisbane. We have a similar community and it is probably as green as Bohemia Village. So forget your visions of red dusty plains  – we are very similar and have the same small shops, pubs and community hall.  We also discussed the fact that I myself run our local Kuraby Newsletter.

I think John and I were inspired to literature by our schoolteacher Mr Bish who would read wonderful books to us on a Friday afternoon. We shall be celebrating Christmas a little differently to you as the temperatures will be in the 30s and most Australians will dine on seafood. Myself, I still favour the traditional and put on the air-conditioning and cook a turkey on the barbeque.

I’d like to wish one and all a very happy new year and peace on Earth and goodwill to all men.

Josephine Wilcox, Australia.
