FRIDAY 4th MARCH 2011 at St Mary In The Castle.

The Fat Tuesday launch reception at St Mary in the Castle, with a showing of Les Blank’s wonderful documentary film “Always For Pleasure”. Filmed in and around the New Orleans Mardi Gras of 1978 the film is an intense insider’s portrait of New Orleans’ street celebrations and unique cultural gumbo: Features live music from Professor Longhair, the Wild Tchoupitoulas, the Neville Brothers and more. This glorious, soul-satisfying film is among Blank’s special masterworks. There will be a special cocktail bar and a DJ to close the night. A great way to get in the mood for the festival ahead. Doors at 8. Film starts at 8.30 with a 70 minute running time. £3 entry to cover costs.
