Bohemia’s Bravest Boy – Kieran Browning

Six-year old Kieran Browning of Bohemia Road had a fantastic day with Blue Watch at our local fire station on 4th of May 2010.

Young Kieran had just undergone six weeks of radiotherapy treatment for a rare and inoperable type of brain tumour (brain stem glioma), but he still managed to dress in full fire kit and help test the foam and even take charge of the appliance as officer in charge.

Whilst in hospital Kieran’s parents asked him what he would like to do. His first word was “firemen”. After asking whether this is what Kieran wanted to be, he replied – “No, I want to see the firemen”. It was his school friend, whose dad works on Blue Watch, that started the ball rolling and after the long weeks of radiotherapy, a date was arranged for Kieran to spend an afternoon at the Bohemia Road Fire Station with his family: mum, dad and 3-year old brother Jayden.

Kieran had a wonderful time and left with a great big smile on his face, loads of photos and some very happy memories. Kieran’s family are understandably extremely proud of him and he is an incredibly brave little boy. He has amazed everyone with his positive attitude and complete lack of moaning!

Blue Watch were delighted to have him at the fire station and we join them and indeed the whole of Bohemia in wishing him and his family the very best for their future. Young Kieran sets a brilliant example to all of us. May we all try to make the most out of every single precious moment of our lives and those of the people that we love.
