Bohemia Book Fayre Spring 2010

Bohemia Book Fayre March 2010

Bohemia Book Fayre March 2010

The Fayre was held on the 20th March 2010. Thanks to Paul Rummery for this report.

Firstly the numbers. We made a total of £807.80 – a fantastic result. Last year’s total was slightly higher but that was helped by five books alone making us £200. We did not have that luxury this year so it makes our total even more of an achievement. When you think that paperbacks were 30p and hardbacks £1, then I estimate we sold in the region of 1500 books.

St Michael’s Hospice

We are donating the money as follows: £150 to St Peters Church to purchase six tables (to enable us to carry on the Book Fayre). £500 has gone to St Michael’s Hospice. £160 to The Pulse School of Dance – many thanks go out to Marc Hall who runs the Dance School whose hospitality and help in the run up to, and during the event contributed to its success. Quite a few of the Pulse members attended and bought books.

I would like to thank all the people who worked very hard setting it up the night before, serving on the day and then finally clearing it all up and stacking the books away for next year. Further thanks are also due to the generous people who donated books to us. I am always surprised by the sheer quantity and quality of the books we get given in just the few weeks before the event and this is largely down to the Village Voice: I collected books from as far as Ore to Glyne Gap and they all read about it in the magazine.
