Bohemia Village Voice

Diane Haberstroh of Bohemia, New York, writes:

“I have wondered about this, but I never asked: the Bohemia Village Voice leaf logo–what kind of leaf is it? Is there any significance?”

Diane – the leaves are from an oak tree. Back in 2006, a few attempts were made to create a drawing of oak leaves, but none seemed quite right. Finally, a small branch with four leaves taken from a local oak tree, laid on our flatbed scanner and an image taken. We’ve used it ever since. There’s no real significance to the leaves being oak. Maybe we hoped that ‘from a tiny acorn, a great oak tree might grow’? JH.
