For bohemians everywhere

The Rev Chris Sears writes (Feb 2010)

Dear Sir,

My wife and I moved into the Bohemia Area last February from central St Leonards. I am the minister of His Place community church in Duke Road, Silverhill. We are enjoying our new house and the sea views. We have discovered new walks around the Summerfields area. It has been a year of change for us. As I look back over it, I remember some sad events and some happy ones. For us as a family it was a difficult year with my wife’s sister so ill with cancer she passed away in November.

In December, our daughter gave birth to a little girl making me a grandad – for the fourth time. There have also been changes in our community over the past year with the retirement of Father Alex Brown from St Peter’s. There was the closure of Wood’s Newsagents, where I enjoyed many good conversations with Keith and Dorothy. Masquerade has also gone. There has been the sale of three shop properties with planning permission and three other shops being upgraded next to Park Lane Property.

No one knows what 2010 has in store for any of us, but I know I personally thank God for helping me through 2009 and I believe 2010 can be another year of opportunity for all of us. I wish you all a happy new year.
