The trial of Father Alex Brown at Lewes Crown Court, which was due to start on 7th December 2009, has been postponed to this summer.

Father Alex, former incumbent of St Peter’s church, faces charges including that of solemnising marriages according to the rites of the Church of England without banns of matrimony being duly published, in breach of the Marriage Act.

Co-defendant Vladymyr Buchak, of Anglesea Terrace, faces charges of conspiring to facilitate unlawful entry, perverting the course of justice, and using a false passport. The trial will now begin on June 7th 2010 and is expected to last five weeks.

Michael Adelasoy, pastor at the Ark of Hope Christian Centre, Marine Court, has also been charged with conspiring to help illegal immigrants into Great Britain.
