At a public meeting residents voted 17 to 2 against the proposed Southwater Area parking scheme. The Borough’s Parking and Highways Manager has negotiated a reduction in the cost of a permit (from £35 down to £25 for the first car per household and £56 to £40 for the second car per household). Cllrs Forward and Cartwright have been door-knocking, asking residents for their views about the revised scheme. So far, the response has been “very favourable”. [AC]
