Horntye plans get OK

Horntye Park

Horntye Park

Horntye Park has finally received planning permission for its residential development plans to build apartments on land unsuitable for sport and recreation use. Outline permission was also granted to extend the existing sporting facilities. The residential development will include an element of social housing together with a learning and disabled unit incorporating eight self-contained two-bedroom units.
Horntye Park [picture] will further transform parts of Trust owned land in Summerfields Woods into an area to walk, sit and enjoy. These plans include sculptured creative seating, woodland access paths, pond rehabilitation, and reptile habitat creation and interpretation boards.
A six rink indoor bowls facility will be built adjoining the existing building. Once built, the existing Falaise Indoor Bowls Club will close and members will transfer to the new purpose-built facility. Kevin Miller, general manager at Horntye Park, said that “I am delighted that the long awaited permission has now been received.” He added that “the plans would enable the Charity to remain open, extend existing facilities and safeguard its financial future for generations to come.”
