Hastings Museum and Art Gallery in Bohemia is running two art exhibitions: Nick Archer and Charlotte Snook. Entry is free and the shows runs until June 8th.
Nick’s work was executed over the last 8 years and includes a set of pictures which use his daughter Alice as a ‘symbol for childhood in general’.  Nick, 44, is married with two children, Alice (4 ) and Lloyd (1), lives in Guestling and works from a studio in Hastings. He moved to this area from Clissold Park in London’s Stoke Newington about four years ago. He teaches ‘occasionally’ in London. His pictures are sold to ‘rich Americans and rich British’ via his agent, Sarah Myerscough of Mayfair. Sometimes he’s commissioned to create pictures of customers’ own children. Sarah spotted Nick’s talents when he graduated from the Royal Academy, since when he ‘hasn’t looked back’.
Well-travelled Charlotte, who has lived in Church Road for nine years says she now ‘wouldn’t live anywhere else’. She’s taught art for many years and still teaches in London three or four times a week and finds time to work in her St John’s Road studio at weekends and holidays. She is a member of South Coast Arts and is a Friend of Summerfields Wood. She has two sons, one in Brazil.
Her work ‘explores images of figures in conflict, frozen in fear or in impossible situations, engaged in odd acts or in ambiguous relationships with dangerous animals’.
