Saturday 29th March saw the 8th – and most successful – Annual Book Fair at St Peter’s Church Hall [report organisers Stewart Buchan & Paul Rummery]. “At least three purchasers spent over £50 each, one of whom being a couple from Brighton who had travelled over especially”. Well over 1,000 books were sold which, at bargain prices, netted a taking of £450 – an increase of £126 on the previous record, and double that achieved last year. The ambience was the “best yet and several people commented favourably on our eclectic choice of background music”. The fair will be back in 2009 – same place, same time. “We’d like to thank Anne, Lynda, Laurie and Mick for their assistance on the day. Also the the local traders who obscured their windows with our posters”. Stewart and Paul say that books in good condition are always gratefully received: 435922 or 428068.
