Sedlescombe House doctors write …

Dear Sir,
We refer to your article in the April 08 edition about Silversprings medical practice. We would like to point out that not all local practices wish to join the Polyclinic at the proposed new Asda store site and that other practices, such as Sedlescombe House Surgery are continuing to take on new patients.
It is a pity that the government ‘does not want single- or double-handed practices’ as the annual Improving Practice Patient Questionnaire, that all practices have to conduct, shows every year that patient satisfaction scores are higher, the smaller the practice.
We, like some other practices, feel that patients should continue to have the ‘choice’ (so often expounded by the primary care trust and the government) to be with small two-GP practices, such as ours, which already provides a full range of services including phlebotomy (blood taking) and preventative medicine from our purpose built unit, modern practice premises with car parking. We also achieved maximum scores in the Clinical Quality Outcomes Measures.
