Estate agents Fox & Sons in Hastings are currently (November) offering the development site at Horntye for a price in the region of £5,250,000. The site is subject to planning permission for circa 100 apartments, including two-bedroom units and penthouses. Fox say ‘the site offers access to the town centre, seafront, and local leisure facilities and cricket grounds. Various apartments will offer sea views. The town centre, seafront and local leisure facilities  are all within 1 mile.’
Horntye Park’s management say ‘the development will enable Horntye Park to remain open and continue to serve the community, and will enable additional sports facilities to be added to the Complex.’
Kevin Miller, general manager, would not be drawn on what proportion of the final sale price Horntye Park would receive. ‘So far’, he said, ‘all the work involved in the planning application hasn’t cost us a penny. The development company is bearing all the costs.’ He also said that there was one more consultation to be done before the scheme can go before the council’s planning committee. Asked whether they had had any enquiries, Daniel of Fox & Sons said, ‘Not a massive amount. Taking the current economic climate into account there are not a great deal of house sales, let alone developers building new ones.’
