Jason wants name change

Jason Burgess, has been the new manager at the Wheatsheaf public house in Bohemia Road, for only a few weeks, but already wants to change the oldest pub in Bohemia’s name. “I want it be a Bohemia Village family-style pub and I’d like to see the ‘Bohemian Arms’ as its new name. I believe there used to be a pub by that name on the corner of Tower Road and Bohemia Road. Most of my customers think it’s a great idea”. Jason, (38), with twenty years experience of the licensed trade, has previously worked at the North Star and has been a licensee at the Duke in Silverhill. Bands will continue on Friday evenings. “We have two real ales always on tap and on Sundays we provide free food”, says Jason. Football, shown on large screens, will continue, with ‘free food at half-time’. Although Jason sees the Wheatsheaf essentially as a family pub, he hasn’t ruled out the occasional strippers nights, started by his predecessor, Emma, who has returned to her studies.
The owner of the Wheatsheaf also owns and runs the ‘Kings Head’ pub in Battle.
