Maurice Goodwin has spent his entire working life in the garage business. At 20 years old he took over Elsinore Garage in Bromley from his father, and ran a successful business there for 40 years until last year, when he sold the site to developers.
He used the money to buy J. Homewood Autos, in Ellenslea Road, from Vic Homewood, with the idea of setting up his son Michael with his own business. But family connections don’t end there, as Vic’s brother Steve continues to work for the renamed garage.
Elsinore takes on all manner of repairs and servicing, and it even supplies a large fleet of hire cars to various airports in the region.
o Helsingør in Danish; in English also known by the name Elsinore, is a city in Helsingør municipality on the northeast coast of the island of Zealand in  Denmark. It is known internationally as the setting of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, whence the spelling ‘Elsinore’ originated.
