Bohemia Road - target for HBCs Grotbusters?

On Tuesday 9th June local residents and traders from the Bohemia Area Association met with Hastings Borough Council to discuss ways of improving the appearance of Bohemia. During a walkabout officers from the Council’s “Grotbusters” team looked at buildings in the mixed commercial/residential area on Bohemia Road [picture]. Cllr Andrew Cartwright said “The Grotbusters team is already tackling a number of dilapidated properties in Bohemia. However, for the first time ever they have agreed to tackle buildings in Bohemia Road “en bloc”. This should make the shopping area look much smarter. Bohemia has great potential to create jobs. There are several firms expanding in the area.”  
Tim Cookson, Borough Planning Officer, said “All Council officers thought the meeting of 9th June was a very positive session and we hope to be able to deliver some of the improvements, certainly to the buildings” However, he quashed any hopes of grants or other help being available “There is no budget to provide specific financial assistance from the grotbusting purse or regeneration area,” he said.
