Ian Smallwood writes (Jul 2009)
Dear Sir, the attractive doorway [Puzzle picture, May 2009] belongs to what is now the Labour Party headquarters in Bohemia Road, formerly the Prince of Wales public house. Incidentally, my mother-in-law was born in the pub (it would be ungentlemanly to say when). Her grandfather, Roland ‘Jack’ Beswick, having been the landlord there during the war years. I wonder if any of your readers have any memories of the Prince of Wales during the war or even of any photographs from that time?
