ST MATTHEW’S CHURCH – Rev Mike Coe, curate Al Pickering (pictured), and the rest of the staff at St Matthew’s Church, St Matthew’s Rd, are waiting to give a warm welcome  to everyone at a special event, “Back to Church Sunday”, on 27th September. We understand that St Matthew’s has a congregation of about 100 adults and about 20 children – “if everyone came at once.” Info: 430262. Note: Al Pickering is moving on from St Matthews; his last Sunday will be 6th Sept.
RUBBISH COLLECTION – our councillors receive numerous complaints about local streets being dirty. The Council is now targeting certain streets in Bohemia with enforcement action. These include Bohemia Road, Clarence Rd, Aldborough Rd, Upper South Road, Newgate Road & Salisbury Road. [AC]
CLARENCE ROAD – Mr & Mrs Harbord have recently installed a solar thermal unit in the roof of their house at of 16 Clarence Rd and are looking forward to lashings of hot water provided by the sun’s radiation. Installed by the Solar & Renewable Group.
LONDON ROAD – Two elderly residents have requested a pedestrian crossing over London Road by Anglesea Terrace. Cllr Andrew Cartwright: “The Council’s response is “Does not meet ESCC criteria – no further action. Some have concluded that if there is to be a pedestrian crossing, there has to be a serious accident first. Residents can raise a petition for a pedestrian crossing to the County Council.”
