Horntye Park Development – Apartments for Fire Service

Horntye Park – the Council has a received a planning application for the building of ‘twelve 2-bed, four 1-bed apartments and a 132 sq metre training room for East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service’.

The proposed building will occupy the southern part of the existing coach park and adjacent land at  Horntye Park Sports Complex, Bohemia Road. The previous application to build a block of flats at Horntye Park was opposed by many residents. Kevin Miller, general manager of Horntye, said, “We hope it’s getting a bit closer. The design panel had a look at it and wanted a few changes. It’s now the same design with less density and more pleasing to the eye. We’ve taken note of the public consultation and also the design panel. That’s what’s taken so long.”

Local councillor Andrew Cartwright has asked for this application to be decided by the Planning Committee rather than officers. This means that the decision will be made in public.
