Paul sells computer firm … to study alcohol

After 5 years trading at the top end of London Road, Silverhill Computers is moving away from Silverhill to new premises at the bottom end of the road. With the move comes a change of ownership but under the same trading name.
Proprietor Paul Ashton, who established the business selling refurbished computers in 2004 is retiring, while Stephen Lloyd has come down from Daventry, Northants, to take over the business.
Former economics researcher Paul intends to spend time writing, reading and researching.  “I’ve enjoyed running my own business supplying refurbished computers to local people but carrying computers and CRT monitors around all day at my age is taking its toll on my body.  I need to take things a bit easier now.”
What will he do now? “Apart from some serious de-cluttering at home, top of my ‘things to do’ list,” said teetotaller Paul, “is to write about the costs and benefits of the use and abuse of alcohol – a subject I had previously intended to study in depth when I was working at Liverpool University but never found the time to get very far with.”
Steve Lloyd meanwhile is looking forward to developing the business in the newly-refurbished premises at 6-8 London Road.  “Any further down the road and I’d be on the beach!”, he joked.  Steve has several years experience of building computers and fault-finding for retailers in Daventry but has long wanted his own shop.  “Silverhill Computers has a good name in the neighbourhood so I hope that customers of Paul’s both old and new will trek down the road that little bit further for the same dedicated standard of care.  Plus I intend to add more services — building computers to order and offering repairs and upgrades to a greater number of people.”
