Values<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some people get their priorities wrong,<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t look around them as life rushes on,<\/p>\n

Their days are spent in a mad, endless rush,<\/p>\n

Jostling each other as they fight through the crush.<\/p>\n

Hooting and fumes from cars in long rows,<\/p>\n

Will bring on a headache, as anyone knows.<\/p>\n

Some people possess a remarkable brain,<\/p>\n

And climb up the ladder of fortune and fame.<\/p>\n

Their greatest objective is piling up money,<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t even notice if it\u2019s cloudy or sunny.<\/p>\n

Weekends in front of the telly they spend,<\/p>\n

A wood and glass idol on which they depend.<\/p>\n

Occasionally rising to pour out a drink<\/p>\n

Until they are staggering round on the brink.<\/p>\n

A sherry, a brandy, or sometimes a whisky,<\/p>\n

Till everything goes, and they start to feel frisky.<\/p>\n

They suddenly realize that life\u2019s passed them by.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s time I retired\u201d is their usual cry.<\/p>\n

They come down to earth with a bump \u2013 they are old.<\/p>\n

Life hangs on a thread \u2013 and it\u2019s worth more than gold.<\/p>\n

The best things in this life are things that are free.<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t pay a penny but just look and see<\/p>\n

A beautiful sunset spread out in the sky<\/p>\n

Its breathtaking beauty could just make you cry.<\/p>\n

Its reflection in water, so silent and still<\/p>\n

When its last rays are touching a far distant hill.<\/p>\n

A pinewood in winter, its trees tipped with snow,<\/p>\n

The sun through the branches, making them glow.<\/p>\n

A walk by the shore, with the wind in the waves,<\/p>\n

The song of the sea, upon rocks and in caves.<\/p>\n

The twitter of swallows as they dart through the air,<\/p>\n

Dipping and diving, with never a care.<\/p>\n

A buttercup meadow\u2019s a wonderful sight,<\/p>\n

And the moon and the stars on a clear frosty night.<\/p>\n

The love of a dear one, the kiss of a child,<\/p>\n

Clouds in a storm when they\u2019re wind-tossed and wild.<\/p>\n

Theses are the values which I would put first,<\/p>\n

Other people can drink and dine till they burst.<\/p>\n

They can keep all their diamonds and all their posh cars.<\/p>\n

They can charter a space-ship and take off to Mars.<\/p>\n

Their mansions, their riches, mean nothing to me,<\/p>\n

For God has provided the things which are free.<\/p>\n
