John Robinson<\/p><\/div>\n

Local poet John D Robinson, \u201cBorn Cancer \u201863\u201d from Silverhill, began writing poetry when he was 16 and had his first poem published just one year later. Since then, over 170 of his poems have appeared in small press magazines, newspapers, journals, community publications, text books and online publications. \u201cI have held poetry workshops in local schools and colleges and have given many readings locally and in Dordrecht.\u201d<\/p>\n

John, who works for the NHS, has also published four books of poetry: Time Signatures<\/em> (1991), Sky-Fall Blossom<\/em>\u00a0 (2006), Glass Orchards<\/em> and The Serene Smiles Of A Wine Drunk Buddha High On A Quiet Breath Of Colour<\/em> (2008) and The Turbulent Gospels<\/em>\u00a0 (2009). His publishing imprint is Holy&intoxicated Publications.<\/p>\n

Biographical details\u00a0<\/strong>I was born July 1963, Hastings, East Sussex.\u00a0Attended Hastings College of Arts & Technology & studied Graphic Design & the Arts Foundation Course (1981 \u2013 1983).\u00a0Throughout the years I have exhibited paintings locally \u2013 The Orange Tree, The Bourne, The pig in Paradise, St.Mary in the Castle, The Utopia Gallery & more recently at the Hastings Trust.\u00a0Non-figurative paintings, for me, can appear to have the ability to be translated or interpretated in many languages simultaneously, they can appear to offer up questions & hide the answers in the history of its making, such pictures are mysterious mirrors that we gave into & across everyday.\u00a0Influences are rich & diverse, of recent years the life & works of artists Don Martin, John Altoon, Hugo Weber & Stanley Twardowicz have been constant fires.\u00a0I have published 170 poems in various publications over the years & have produced 6 books of poetry to date, for information regarding these books please contact \u2013 johndrobinson@yahoo.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n

\ninfinity of cremated roses
\n& the reign of marvelous
\nlakes that spiral across
\nthe ridges of a green leaf –<\/p>\n

I draw from you a voice
\nof such elegance that
\nthe holiest of prayers
\nbecome shy of exposure –<\/p>\n

I draw from you the
\nsimplistic wisdom of a
\nthousand fairy-tales
\n& the exuberant joy of
\na thousand simultaneous
\nsmiles of friendship –<\/p>\n

I draw from you a
\nflowering of childhood,
\na sound
\nso subtle that only
\nsecrets can hear –<\/p>\n

I draw from you
\nthe soft-winged
\nerosion of evil & the
\ntender flames that lick the
\nwounds of all
\nwho have suffered –<\/p>\n

I draw from you the
\nmessage of comfort &
\nthe hushed dressage of
\nsleep that moves like
\na soft blue thru
\nrooms of loneliness –<\/p>\n

I draw from you the
\nstrength to recognize
\neach moment is perfection
\n& to know that the
\nearth revolves safely
\nin your hands –<\/p>\n

I draw from you
\nLife itself
\nBeginning to end
\nLove itself –
\nThat’s what
