Keep Our Post Office
Ms E Harding writes (May 2008)
Dear Sir,
I’ve heard that nationally the Post Office has been losing half a million pounds a day by supporting ‘inefficient’ post offices. How much a day is ‘lost’ by supporting police stations and hospitals and schools? I’d like to suggest that the government considers post offices in the same light – as an essential public service.
Anyway, half a million pounds a day sounds a lot, but it only works out at less than a penny a day for each of us. Surely a small price to pay for keeping these cherished and useful establishements going?
